In India, around 25% of students in municipal schools suffer from learning disorders. This plight of the students was felt by a Thane-based educator Pooja Joshi who eventually started an organization called ‘Mimaansa’, which has been tirelessly working towards addressing learning disabilities in underprivileged schools. Mimaansa was launched with a team of special educators and counsellors to enable early detection and remediation for students with learning disabilities along with an art-based counselling program for students and a teacher training program. Mimaansa has partnered with a number of municipal schools and provided remedial sessions to over 4,500 students.
